The Facilities Management Department (FMD) has been working with the County Attorney's office to draft the attached license agreement between Travis County and SAFE Alliance. The request is for a parking space at the Granger Garage, with associated fees waived. The organization has had a long-term agreement for a parking space for the SAFE Alliance Family Court legal advocate who attends all PO docket cases set by the Travis County Attorney’s Office in both the civil courthouse and in the criminal courthouse.
This request is sponsored by the County Attorney’s Office, based on the work and partnership of SAFE Alliance, the organization’s budgetary needs, and the value of this position to the work of the County. The organization has gone through the process set forth in County code, Chapter 44, to request discounted space. SAFE Alliance meets eligibility criteria for a discount, as they are a nonprofit tax-exempt entity with an organizational mission related to county services. A memo from the organization requesting a discounted rate for the parking space is attached.
The current rate for monthly parking space reservation in the Central Business District ranges from $170 to $300 per month. The Facilities Management Department typically charges private tenants $150 per month.
The license agreement will start on April 1, 2026, and will expire on April 30, 2027. However, the Licensee has four (4) one-year extensions. If the extensions are exercised, then the license agreement will expire on April 30, 2031. The language of the agreement provides that the County may terminate the License Agreement if needed.
