Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

Each year Commissioners Court must set salaries for elected officials not on the State’s Judicial Pay Scale. Travis County has historically opted to show all elected officials for maximum transparency. Prior to setting salaries, it is required that Travis County advertise the maximum salaries that could be considered by the Commissioners Court. The Commissioners Court must hold a public hearing on those maximum salaries prior to a vote. In recent years, Commissioners Court has chosen to set the elected official salaries at a rate equivalent to what it provides classified employees if an across-the-board increase is approved. HRMD has provided Commissioners Court with an exhibits to preserve maximum flexibility for the Commissioners Court. The increases shown are set at three (3) percent. This will allow Commissioners Court the ability to discuss a full range of options for elected officials once it has determined its compensation decisions for all Travis County employees in late August.
