Consider and take appropriate action regarding the approval of the license agreement between Travis County and Great Promise for American Indians to use a portion of the grounds at the Exposition Center on November 20 and 21, 2026 for Austin Powwow and Native Market, waiving the related facility rental fees. (Judge Brown)
Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
Great Promise for American Indians has requested from Travis County to host the Austin Powwow and Native Market at the Exposition Center in November 2026. The Facilities Management Department (FMD) has drafted the attached license agreement for the event to use the grounds at the Exposition Center. The Exposition Center Division Manager, or their designee, is authorized to sign the Expo Center license agreement if there are no changes to the standard language and to the fees. However, the organization has requested that the County waive the $10,600 facility rental fee normally charged at the nonprofit rate for use of the Exposition Center. Therefore, this license agreement is brought before the Commissioner’s Court for their consideration. The total fee to be waived is $10,600. The original license agreement is attached. Upon Court Approval, the facility rental fee will be waived, and the total event fee will be $5,525.
