Consider authorizing Change Order No. 2 to the Lift Station No. 2 Rehabilitation Project for gas line relocation and TNMP meter racks and duct banks.
Staff Report & Agenda Item Details
Change Order No. 2 to the Lift Station No. 2 Rehabilitation Project includes relocation of an existing natural gas line serving the generator. Historical City record drawings did not accurately identify the location of the existing gas line. During construction, the line was field located and found to conflict with three piers required for the proposed generator foundation. Relocation of the gas line is therefore necessary to construct the new generator foundation as designed. The change order also includes additional work associated with the primary electrical service extension. After the project was designed and bid, Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) established additional requirements for the electrical service that were not included in the requirements available to the City or design engineer during development of the project. These subsequently established requirements include installation of a TNMP-required meter rack and duct bank necessary to complete the permanent electrical service extension. These changes result from an unforeseen existing utility conflict and additional requirements established by TNMP after the project was designed and bid, rather than changes to the City's intended project scope. Funding for Change Order No. 2 is provided through the City's Water and Sewer Bond Program.
