Staff Report & Agenda Item Details

The request is for a rezoning to General Commercial from the Heavy Commercial/General Commercial zoning district. The two purposes are for TIRZ funding and to provide a space for a mobile food unit park along N. Chdbourne. The area is a mix of commercial core and housing types. This would be compatible with the area and provide an additional spark along N Chadbourne as revitalization is happening in the North TIRZ zone with housing and small business development. The Planning Commission heard this case on July 20 and recommended approval with a 6-0 vote.

Bastiat Liberty & Property Rights Analysis

This motion is scored as EXPANDS_GOVERNMENT (Impact Weight: 6.9/10). Under the Bastiat Liberty Watchdog Index, measures that increase tax rates or fee schedules, issue new debt or Certificates of Obligation, expand regulatory/zoning restrictions on private land use, or authorize unbudgeted spending expansions reduce an official's Freedom Score when voted YES (and reward dissenting NO votes).
